Description:

Exhilarating country atmosphere, complete with farms and wooded area, surrounds the Springwater Golf Course, located four miles south of Estacada and five miles from McIver State Park.

This 3,003-yard, 9-hole, par-36 family-run public links course stands on land that was once a family farm with berry patches, fields of grass, and farm animals. Opened in 1964 as a par-34, changes have been made over the years to add more yardage and two strokes. The fairways are generally wide; but a stream, beautiful hillsides, and canyons provide the necessary challenge. The terrain makes it interesting, and it is more challenging than it looks. Some of the greens are smallish, and some are sloped. Contours are used instead of bunkers to protect the greens -- errant approach shots often bounce and roll away (there is only one sand trap on the course.) The signature hole is #3, a 384-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot up a sharp dogleg right fairway and over a hill. # 5 is located on a high plateau that overlooks the rest of the course and the surrounding countryside. Views of Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood can be seen on clear days. The course has an abundance of trees that can alter your shots, plus water hazards come into play on two holes. There are additional sets of tees when playing an eighteen hole round.
