Welcome to The First Tee of The Childrens Course.

The First Tee of The Childrens Course is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to providing golfing opportunities for youth and families. The golf course is a 9-hole, par 3 layout. It is funded by private donations from foundations, corporations and individuals. A facility unique to The First Tee of The Childrens Course, the Erling Jacobsen Learning Center, features a 5-hole short course for teaching, practice and play.

The First Tee of The Childrens Course outreach programs are dedicated to nurturing disadvantaged children ages 7 to 17, building values that strengthen their character and guiding them in becoming responsible adults through the game of golf.

The Childrens Course is located in a beautiful setting nestled between the Clackamas and Willamette Rivers in Gladstone. It originally opened for play in 1961 as an 18-hole, par 3 course. In 1989, following the development of the apartments on the perimeter, the course was designed into a 9-hole, par 3 course. In 1996 the course became dedicated to children.

Directions: Get Directions

From Downtown Portland: Take McLoughlin Blvd./99 south to Glen Echo Avenue. This street curves left and becomes River Road. Continue south, and the course will be on your right. The entrance is about 100 feet from the light at the McLoughlin and River Road intersection.



From the NorthEast Portland: Take I-205 to the Oregon City/Gladstone exit (No. 9). Turn right off exit onto 99 E/McLoughlin. Go one-half mile, then turn left at light onto River Road, just after the Clackamas River. The entrance is on immediate left.


From the West side of Portland: Take I-5 Sourth to I-205 North (exit 288). Take exit 9 for OR-99E towards Oregon City/Gladstone. Turn right onto McLoughlin Blvd/OR-99E. Turn left onto River Road (first stop light after the bridge). Take immediate left into apartment complex driveway (golf course is straight ahead).
